HISTORY
Cooper-Booth Wholesale Company has been a trusted name in wholesale distribution since 1865, when Booth Tobacco Company was established in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Over the years, the company expanded through the acquisition of Cooper Tobacco and several other distributors.
As a family-owned and operated business for three generations, our success and longevity are built on a steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional service and value to our customers.

Booth Tobacco Company is founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
1952

1952
Julius and his son Burton purchase Booth Tobacco in Lancaster, PA.
1970s

1970s
Booth Tobacco implements the use of the IBM punch card system.
1971-72

1971-72
Booth Tobacco acquires Cooper Tobacco Company and becomes Cooper-Booth.
A new 21,000 square foot distribution center is built on Centerville Road in Lancaster.
1975

1975
CBW transitions from punch cards to its first ERP system—an HP1000—used to manage accounting and operations.
1978-79

1978-79
Cooper-Booth continues to grow with the acquisition of York Cigar and CH Stallman and Sons.
1980s

1980s
Cooper-Booth expanded its warehouse to support the addition of grocery, frozen, and refrigerated products—officially becoming a full-line distributor.
1995

1995
CBW provides handheld scanning units for customers and sale representatives to transmit their own orders.
1990

1990
Barry Margolis, a third generation member of the Margolis family, joins the business.
CBW services is expanded to MD, DE, VA, WV, and NJ.
1997

1997
CBW builds a new 100,000 square foot distribution center.
2000-2007

2000-2007
CBW implements an e-commerce website and the sales force is equipped with wireless PDA units.
2018

2018
CBW expands to double the size of its warehouse space.
An additional 110,000 square feet was added to expand ambient and refrigerated storage capacity.
